To the person who asked. You don’t need wax. At all. In fact, I’d say your dreads will be a lot healthier without wax in ‘em. Also.. In my humble opinion, twist and rip is a better method than just backcombing (I used a combo of the two). The crochet hook is a great tool while making the dreads, but I wouldn’t recommend using it for maintenance later on when they are older. It can be quite damaging for your hair. // Good luck! :)
